Home & Away!
After three weeks of rain in Sydney, the sun finally came out today.
And for a moment, I felt how much I had missed it. I realised when we see the sun every day, we slowly begin to forget its importance.
This is how the human mind adapts to constancy.
The things that sustain us most are often the things we stop noticing first: sunlight, health, peace, family, purpose, and even the presence of people who care about us and support us every day.
When something is always there, the brain quietly reclassifies it from a gift into a background assumption.
I was speaking with a friend who had just returned from overseas, and she realised how much she had missed Australia. Sometimes, it takes being away from something familiar to truly appreciate its value.
For me Australia has become both home and away. Moving to Oz has helped me appreciate my cultural roots , but it's also helped me find my place here in Australia.
In some ways, home feels less like a place now and more like a feeling I carry with me.
